Effective elastic properties of a cracked medium with non-random crack orientation distribution is modeled in the framework of the Self-Consistent homogenization theory (Hoenig, 1979).

In this example of horizontal crack (PTI), the Young and shear moduli in the vertical direction (E and G respectively) are computed. The effective moduli are normalized to the correspondent moduli of the non-cracked phase.
